Currently craving: all things burgundy

This photo is from a trip to Carmel, Indiana back in October of 2015. The leaves were so spectacular — it made me miss real seasons. And although we’re not getting much of a fall yet, I’m still inspired to pull out all my favorite fall colors. Here’s a few burgundy items on my radar…

Floral

I picked up this silk blouse when I was visiting NYC for work last year. I found it in one of the best Saks Off Fifth stores I’ve ever been to. There was no doubt I had to get it — silk blouses are a must for my work wardrobe. When the temps drop I love layering them under cashmere sweaters and blazers.

It’s hard to believe we’re in our second week of October already! The change of the season is always fun and I’m excited for Halloween, fall meals and cozy weather.

My favorite everyday jewelry

I don’t own a lot of jewelry, but I do have my go-to pieces that I wear all the time. I love the pieces I have collected for myself, from my family and from my husband. Wearing the jewelry makes me think of the person who gifted it to me or what it represents. Aside from these very special pieces, I rounded up my absolute favorites that I wear almost every day.

The earrings in this picture are my latest obsession. Can you tell that the large disc goes behind the ear? And you can wear the small disc by itself if you want. How cool is that? The picture on the Nordstrom website shows them side by side, but check them out here.

Five reasons to love midi skirts

If you’ve been following me for a while, you’ve probably noticed I have been fully embracing midi skirts. One of my favorites is this one. I love the drape and sheen — so pretty! I bought this pleated one during the Nordstrom anniversary sale for less than $40. It was similar to this one which was out of my price range. Here are five reasons why you should love midi skirts, too.

  1. You can dress them up or down: I wore this outfit to work but I could easily switch to sneakers and a graphic tee for the weekend.
  2. They’re fun to wear: let’s be honest, midi skirts are so feminine and I love the way they drape so nicely.
  3. They are always sophisticated: when in doubt, throw on a midi skirt for any event. You basically can’t go wrong: brunch, work, night out, running errands…
  4. They’re fun to layer: I’ll wear a cozy turtleneck sweater over them when the temps drop.
  5. Use it as a cover-up: Throw it over a bathing suit if you’re spending the day seaside.

My favorite sweaters this season

Ok, you have to finally accept that we are officially in #sweaterweather season. Although I was hanging on to summer as long as possible, I do like the change of season — well, as much of a change that we get here in southern California. Below are my favorite sweaters this season.

Which one is your favorite?

What I wear most weekends

I absolutely love getting dressed up for work, but when it comes to the weekend I am all about being comfortable. Especially because I have two kids in tow! Funny enough, I bought these jeans while I was pregnant and they’re still my favorite. Only difference now is that I can actually button them up! Add a white tee and the most comfortable kicks ever and I’m all set to conquer the weekend.

My favorite blazers

Living in southern California, I don’t get the chance to wear cozy jackets that often. That means I love a good blazer to throw over anything and everything. My favorite blazer is a longer length, a (very) slightly boxy fit with fitted arms. A second runner up is a sharp, fitted blazer that can make every outfit look more sophisticated. Because it’s that time of year again, here’s a roundup of my current favorites…
