Slip dress

I know that slip dresses have been popular for a while now, but I am just now jumping on the bandwagon. They’re a little 90’s but super chic, like this gorgeous one. Are the 90’s coming back or something? Because I think this dress is super cute too (and screams 90’s!).

I slipped this on (pun intended) for a fun night out in Laguna Beach with my husband last weekend. We had drinks and dinner at Skyloft followed by dessert on the beach. It was so nice to get out and spend some time celebrating Taylor’s birthday. I think I’ll get so much use out of this dress in the coming seasons. I can dress it down by layering a white tee under it and throwing on some tennies, or dress it back up for a night out with a leather jacket and some booties.

Olive x navy x pink

Good morning and happy Monday! I took the last week off to rest and recover from pneumonia. It really knocked me down hard and I took my doctor’s advice and “went down with it”. It was nice to spend a week focusing on recovering, sleeping a lot and feeling stronger each day.

We’re in for some “cooler” weather this week (mid 70’s) and I’m looking forward to a little break from the heat. The only thing I’m not happy about is the days getting noticeably shorter. I love the dog days of summer when sunsets are passed 8pm and the heat of the day still lingers throughout the night.

Speaking of warm days, I put together this outfit last week and while it was perfect for the office (hello a/c!) it was a bit too hot for going to and from. What can I say, I’m a sucker for silk blouses and wide legged pants!

Bomber

I’ve always wanted a fun bomber jacket, but wasn’t willing to invest a big chunk of money into one. So when Victoria Beckham launched her Target line, I was so excited to pick this one up for under $40! Whenever a designer launches a Target collection, the items literally fly off the racks, so I was really surprised I was able to scoop this one up. Since it’s not available anymore, here are a few other favorites…

Pre-fall favorites

Ok, ok don’t get mad that I’m already thinking ahead to fall. But it’s already August and I’m seeing “back to school” stuff everywhere. And even though summer is absolutely my favorite season, I can’t help but feel a little excited for cooler weather. After all, it’s been a hot summer in southern California and I’m ready for a little relief from the heat!

Here are three things I’ll be investing in come fall…

A double duty blazer. One that can be worn just as easily to work as on the weekends. I personally love a blazer that is a little longer, slightly boxy, but fitted in the sleeves.

A sleek pair of modern loafers. Really what is more chic than a great pair of loafers? They pair so nicely with pretty much everything: skinny jeans, midi skirts, mini skirts, cropped trousers… I could go on and on.

A slouchy sweater. I absolutely love throwing on a slouchy sweater in cooler weather. They’re perfect to pair with skinny jeans, leggings, over your favorite summer dress and even tucked into a pair of trousers.

#NSale finds

Unless you’re living on another planet, you’ve probably been hearing all about the Nordstrom Anniversary sale. And if you haven’t, well, I’m here to help you score some amazing items! I have definitely participated in the sale, but there are a lot of other things on my wish list. Like these sleek and modern heels, these ear crawlers, this gorgeous necklace and this cute crushed velvet bag.

When I’m shopping online, I put everything in my cart and then edit from there. I laughed when I had over $1k worth of items in my bag. But that’s ok because I am in love with this skirt and it’s only $35! It looks just like this Vince one, too. I also bought these shoes in grey (they run tts) even though I hesitated for a while wondering if I would wear them very much. I determined I’d most likely live in them on the weekends come fall plus they would look super cute with the pleated skirt I got, right?! Since those were priced so well, I budgeted enough to buy this gorgeous watch. The nespresso color I bought is sold out, but I love this ivory one just as much. It’s my first Michele watch and I love how understated it is. Plus it’s super comfortable and even prettier in person!

And I can’t pass up a good sale without buying some kid/baby items. Since I’m all set for clothes, I bought this baby food maker. It is amazing! It steams veggies and purees them to baby food within 20 minutes. Plus it’s super easy to clean. It’s probably my best purchase from the entire sale.

What did you get?

Summer espadrilles

At work you will usually find me in heels, but on the weekend I am almost always in flats. It’s absolutely necessary to have a comfortable shoe on the weekend while I’m keeping up with a toddler and baby, but it also has to be chic! I was so excited to try these super cute and very comfortable espadrilles because they totally fit the bill when it comes to comfort and style. I threw these on with a pair of slouchy chinos and a white tee for a casual day of running errands and playing with the kids.

What’s your favorite weekend shoe?

Little red dress

We’re in the dog days of summer and if I’m not wearing a bathing suit, I’m wearing a fun and breezy dress like this one. I was looking for a dress to complete my summer wardrobe, and I knew this was the one. I wanted something in a fun and pretty color with an interesting detail like this exaggerated bell sleeve and something that fell just above the knee. I love how it can go from day to night (wear it to work like this and then change up the purse to a clutch and the heels for something a little more strappy for night).

I feel like my summer closet is complete with this dress! What’s your summer staple?
