Have you guys noticed how everything is cropped lately? It was so hard when I was pregnant last summer/fall because I definitely couldn’t pull off the trend. I love pairing a cropped top with high waisted pants though – so chic! This last weekend I threw this together for a casual night with the family. Can’t beat a swingy cropped top in red!

Hope you’re all having a great week so far and thanks for stopping by!

There is a major heat wave moving through southern California and we are melting! It’s really nice at night when it’s warm enough to eat dinner outside comfortably, but it’s been reaching 90+ during the day. It makes it hard to find comfortable clothes for work that are both professional and comfortable. Speaking of, I’m having the hardest time figuring out what my style is for work. It seems to have become pretty casual and I think that paired with the fact that my clothes don’t fit the same (yet!) has me feeling like I’m in a rut. But I’ll break free of it soon. I’m sure a little shopping can help that 🙂

Weekend prep

Since going back to work full time two weeks ago, I made a resolution to prep as much as possible on Sunday and to bring my lunch to work. So far I’ve been successful with both and I thought this would be a perfect place to tell you how I do it!

Before I go to the store, I create a basic meal plan for the week. I love to use Pinterest for inspiration and new recipes. Having the fridge stocked for the week is the only way we don’t resort to take out every night. And since there’s not a lot of time to actually make dinner once I get home, I rely on simple and healthy recipes: pasta primavera, grilled chicken and veggies, burrito bowls or hamburgers.

The other meal of the day I make sure is always ready to take on the road is breakfast. I’ll be honest, getting out the door on time in the morning means everything has to go pretty smoothly. I make these oat muffins or these quinoa bars or these green smoothie bars on Sunday. They’re perfect to grab on the go or pack as a snack for later. The best part is that my daughter loves them and since they’re loaded with so many good things, I know she’s eating something healthy. I also have everything for a smoothie on hand: frozen mango, pineapple, blueberries and strawberries and then I add dates, spinach, an orange and a banana.

It’s so important for me to prepare all this before the week starts because I want the morning and night routine to be as fun as possible for my kids. I don’t want to start the day in complete chaos!

I’m so interested to know what your prep routines are! What are things that you do to get ready for the week ahead? Any good recipes worth sharing? Comment below!

It’s supposed to warm up quite a bit here this week, but here’s a favorite I wore a few weeks back. This trench is my absolute favorite – I love the exaggerated collar and cropped length. Although Cuyana isn’t carrying it this year, this bomber jacket is on my wish list! Keeping it short and sweet today. I’m going into my second week back at work and I have to say, it makes me feel a little more “normal” to be back in my old routine. But before I go, can we take a minute to admire these loafers? They are so comfortable, too!

Tiered skirt

I won’t lie, I love that this skirt has an elastic waist. As I’m getting my post baby body back (slowly but surely!) these kinds of skirts are the most comfortable. It doesn’t hurt that it’s super cute and perfect for summer. I would totally pair this with cute sneakers and a graphic tee for running errands on the weekend (which is actually how I wore it later in the day).

Also, how cute are these heels? They’re on major sale right now and are so comfortable – that heel height is perfect! I kind of want them in red now…

TGL lately

I wish all my outfits could make it to the blog, but in reality it’s a little too hard to post my daily outfits. But I think I have a pretty good excuse – getting back to work and taking care of a 3 year old and 4 month old is no joke! In case you don’t follow me on Instagram, here’s the latest…

Back to work

The day has finally come for me to head back to work. I had 18 wonderful weeks off with my little boy and it’s so hard to get back into the work groove. But what’s harder is not being with my baby all day! So many emotions, but I’ve always been a very positive person. I see this transition back to work as a milestone – Zach will get used to being around other people, I get to get back to my career and it’s one more step to feeling “normal”. I’m also hoping this means I can post more work appropriate outfits for you, too!
